Kyle Weiss, a former Claremont McKenna student, has been honored as a 2012 World of Children Award winner for his work building soccer fields for former child soldiers and other vulnerable children around the world through his nonprofit, FUNDaFIELD.
Weis, 19, was honored on Oct. 25 at the World of Children Award Gala in New York City. More than 400 guests turned out to honor him and his fellow honorees, including actress Stephanie March, actor Matthew Settle, CNN's Alina Cho, Glamour magazine's Cindi Leive and television personality Geraldo Rivera.
He teamed with his brother on a mission to donate soccer equipment to countries abroad, according to his bio. Weiss was 13 and his brother was 15 at the time. The two were inspired during a trip to Germany to watch the World Cup and saw how soccer brings children together on the field and helps them learn social skills and life lessons.
