New Claremont, La Verne Assemblyman Holden To Be Sworn-In Locally

The newly elected assemblyman will take the oath of office this weekend in a local ceremony, after taking part in a state ceremony earlier this week.

Claremont and La Verne's newest Assemblyman will take part in a local swearing-in ceremony this weekend, after a formal ceremony was held upstate earlier this week.

The SoCal event, to be held in Pasadena, will take place Sunday, Dec. 9, his press team reports.

"Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard will serve as master of ceremonies and Congresswoman Judy Chu will do the honors as Mr. Holden is sworn in as Assembly Member Holden before family, friends and local dignitaries," his office stated in a news release.

Assemblyman Chris Holden, D-Pasadena, was sworn in Monday in Sacramento as the 41st district's representative.  He also will serve as the majority whip of the California Democratic Caucus, according to a news release.

As his first legislative effort, Holden Monday introduced a bill related to economic development and job creation.
 
Sunday's event will happen at 4 p.m., with a reception immediately following.  It will be held at Noor Terrace, 260 E. Colorado, Pasadena (located in Paseo Colorado)
 
Holden represents the 41st Assembly District, encompassing the cities of Pasadena, portions of South Pasadena, portions of East Pasadena, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, La Verne, Altadena, San Dimas, Claremont, and Upland.  He previously served as a Councilmember and Mayor for the City of Pasadena, where he was first elected in 1989.
