A review of a contract awarded to a car-leasing agency with connections to Supervisor Don Knabe has determined the process was not competitive, but found no evidence of improper influence, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Times is reporting that auditors reviewed a $1.75-million car leasing contract given to Enterprise Rent-a-Car at the request of Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, who represents La Verne.
Antonovich's request followed a Nov. 28 report by on KCET's SoCal Connected. The report “focused on the lobbying firm Englander Knabe & Allen and questioned whether its clients — including Enterprise — got an unfair advantage because partner Matt Knabe is the son of county Supervisor Don Knabe, who voted along with all the other supervisors to award the contract.”
