Construction on Sixth Street May Cause Traffic Delays

A contractor for Golden State Water was to begin work today on water line improvements to pipes.

Delta Pipeline, the contractor for Golden State Water, was scheduled to begin work today on water line improvements to pipes that serve the Pomona College Millikan Laboratory site at the northeast corner of College Avenue and Sixth Street.

The project will involve the installation of a six-inch ductile iron pipe across on Sixth Street, east of College Avenue, according to an announcement in Claremont City Manager Tony Ramo’s weekly newsletter. A new fire hydrant was also to be installed at the north side of Sixth Street.

Officials anticipated the work would be done by Jan. 17. Drivers were warned to expect traffic delays. Flagmen were scheduled to direct traffic. Sixth Street, between College Avenue and College Way, will be reduced to one lane to accommodate trench digging and water line installation, officials said.
