UPDATE: Man, Woman ID'd in Claremont Shopping Center Arrests

Police have identified an Upland man and Ontario woman as the suspects accused of stealing a car and getting caught in a Claremont shopping center.

A 25-year-old Upland man and 27-year-old Ontario woman are behind bars in Claremont Friday, suspected of grand theft auto.

The duo were arrested at gunpoint Thursday afternoon, when an officer ran the plates on the vehicle, found them to be stolen, and pulled them over in the area of the Sprouts Farmer’s Market on West Foothill, near North Town Avenue, according to Lt. Mike Ciszek.

The pair have since been identified as Evan Mahlstadt and Ashley Aguirre, who were arrested and booked on grand theft auto and receiving stolen property charges, according Lt. Karlan Bennett.

According to jail booking records, both were being held at the Claremont jail.  Mahlstadt's bail was set at $35,000, while Aguirre was being held on $20,000.
