Pomona police were trying to determine today why a 31-year-old Montclair man drove his Ford Expedition into several fixed objects on Garey Avenue, then rolled the SUV, leading to his death.
The coroner's office identified the driver as Fernando Barreras, Jr.
The crash was reported at 7:11 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Garey Avenue and Arrow Highway, Pomona police Sgt. Christian Hsu said.
The Expedition was heading south on Garey Avenue, approaching Arrow Highway, when the driver steered into the northbound lanes,' Hsu said.
"He struck several fixed objects before the Expedition rolled over. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene," he said.
