POLICE: Reputed El Monte Gang Member Accused in Pomona Shooting

Bail is set at $1 million for a reputed El Monte gang member accused of shooting one woman and pistol-whipping another at an apartment building in Pomona, authorities said Monday.
Witnesses identified Isaac Serrano, 27, as the person who attacked the women in the 600 block of North Huntington Street about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Pomona police Capt. Michael Ellis said.
Ellis said that Serrano confronted the women at an apartment complex, apparently believing they were involved in a burglary at another apartment. He allegedly shot a 32-year-old woman and pistol-whipped a 21-year-old woman. Children were in the apartment when the crimes were committed, but none of them was injured, authorities said.

Ellis said that detectives learned Serrano had been arrested on Sunday in El Monte for DUI and was still in custody. He was about to be released in the DUI case when Pomona police filed an attempted murder count, authorities said. Serrano's bail was set at $1 million.
The shooting victim was airlifted to County-USC Medical Center, and the younger woman was taken to a different hospital. Reports on their conditions were not immediately available.
