Man Who Died in Claremont Crash Wore Seat Belt
Authorities say Kyle Crampton, a 32-year-old Chino Hills resident, was traveling at an unsafe speed.
A man who died in a rollover crash on a rain-slick mountain road near Claremont earlier this week was wearing a seat belt, but was driving at an unsafe speed, a California Highway Patrol officer said today.
Kyle Crampton, 32, of Chino Hills, died at the scene of the crash on Mount Baldy Road at or near Mountain Avenue about 10:40 p.m. Monday, according to coroner's Chief Craig Harvey and the CHP.
CHP officials said initially that the light rain an excessive speed were likely factors in the crash, and the driver appeared not to have been wearing a seat belt.

CHP Officer Jennifer Cassidy told City News Service today that Crampton was wearing a seat belt. She said Crampton was driving at an unsafe speed for the conditions of the road, lost control of the car and struck an embankment.
