DUI Suspect Allegedly Injures CHP Officers on 210 Freeway
The incident occurred about 1:25 a.m. on westbound 210, just west of Foothill Boulevard, according to the CHP.
A man suspected of DUI allegedly slammed into a California Highway Patrol car in a Foothill (210) Freeway construction zone Saturday, sending two officers to a hospital, a CHP sergeant said.
Both officers are expected to recover and the suspect was also hospitalized with a scalp injury suffered in the crash, which happened around 1:25 a.m. on the westbound 210 just west of Foothill Boulevard, CHP Sgt. Eric Nolte said at the scene.
Caltrans had some of the freeway lanes closed for road construction when the suspect, driving a Mercedes-Benz allegedly at a high rate of speed, struck a sign before hitting the rear of the CHP car, Nolte said.

The Mercedes continued several hundred feet, then went down an embankment, he said.
"Preliminary reports indicate the individual was intoxicated," Nolte said, adding that the man would likely be booked on suspicion of DUI.
