The bicyclist killed after crashing with a vehicle on Baseline Road in Claremont was identified as 76-year-old Ali Mirage, of La Verne.
According to information released by Claremont Police Lt. Shelly Vander Veen, next-of-kin were notified when they arrived at the scene of the incident. A 54-year-old woman in a Toyota Corolla struck Mirage, according to a report by City News Service.
Mirage appears to have been on a daily bike ride at the time, City News reported.
The Corolla's driver stopped and cooperated with investigators, Vander Veen said.
The crash forced the closure of Baseline Road between Bonnie Brae Ave. and Mills Ave. from 9:54 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Claremont Police have confirmed that a bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Baseline Road today (Dec. 27).

The incident was reported at 9:54 a.m. Officers said both the vehicle and the cyclist were headed east on Baseline at the time of the crash.
The investigation was ongoing therefore they were unable to release many details, said Claremont Police Lt. Shelly Vander Veen.
Authorities did confirm that Claremont Police Officers and Los Angeles County Fire responded but the bicyclist had died at the scene. The vehicle’s driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigators, officials added.
Baseline remained closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic from Bonnie Brae to Mills avenues, officials said.
Los Angeles County Coroner’s will release the name of the victim pending notification of next-of-kin.
