Brush Fire Scorches 40 Acres North of Azusa

The fire burned for 90 minutes and was fought by more than 100 Los Angeles County firefighters and three water-dropping helicopters.

About 40 acres of brush went up in smoke Tuesday near the mouth of San Gabriel Canyon.

The fire broke out north of Azusa in Fish Canyon about 2:50 p.m. near a shooting range and burned for about 90 minutes until it was quenched by more than 100 Los Angeles County firefighters and three water-dropping helicopters, according to county fire Inspector Tony Akins.

Fish Canyon, on the western side of San Gabriel Canyon, contains a series of waterfalls about 4 miles from a trailhead in Azusa.
