Authorities Release Name of Homicide Victim

Coroner officials say the victim of an early morning shooting in Pomona was a teenager.

The coroner's office today identified a young man who suffered a fatal gunshot wound in Pomona.

He was Jose Alfredo Jimenez, 18, of Pomona, said coroner's Lt. Joe Bale.

Pomona police officers answered a "shots fired" call in the 1100 block of North Park Avenue around 2:15 a.m. Sunday and found Jimenez fatally wounded, Pomona police Sgt. Robert DeVee said.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics pronounced Jimenez dead at the scene, DeVee said.

Pomona homicide detectives are investigating the shooting. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call police at (909) 620-2095.
