At Least One Dead In Pomona Crash

Few details being released by authorities.

At least one occupant of an SUV died at the scene of a tremendous crash at the intersection of Arrow Highway and Garey Avenue near the La Verne border Sunday evening.

It was unclear if it was a solo crash, or if a second vehicle was involved. It was also unclear how many occupants may have been in the SUV, which was severely damaged and rolled over on its side. The occupant of the SUV appeared to have been ejected.

Pomona police would not answer any questions regarding the crash.

According to scanner reports, fire fighters arrived to the scene around 7:16 p.m. The SUV was on fire when authorities arrived and rescuers called for a rescue helicopter to transport an unknown number of patients. Fire fighters, however, called off the helicopter almost immediately for unknown reasons.
