Stephanie Roberts, Everyday Inspiration, Helps Schoolchildren Through Assistance League

Patch readers told us who the "Everyday Inspirations" in their communities are, and we're sharing their stories and the work they've done locally.

Everyday Inspirations is a series that features people in Patch communities who inspire others through their work, or people who have faced extraordinary situations and grown from them. They have been featured by other people in the community that have been inspired by the nominees.

Name: Stephanie Roberts
Town: Claremont, CA
Nominated by: Carol Holmes

Why is this person an "Everyday Inspiration?"
Stephanie Roberts has worked tirelessly as a volunteer for The Assistance League of Pomona Valley's Operation School Bell Program for 14 years. She has made a difference under this program supplying new school clothing, backpacks with school supplies and hygiene kits to over a thousand of children annually.

For many children, this is their first opportunity to have new school clothes and shoes.

Has the nominee's life been changed in an extraordinary way?

Stephanie's life and any volunteer in the Assistance Leagues life changes when you see parents with eyes filling with tears of gratefulness for the service performed.

This act if kindness demonstrates how vital this program is in the community and how important it is to spread the message. The change noted is that once the parents of these children are back on their feet so to speak, they ask if they can volunteer. "Today's Volunteers Meeting the Needs of Tomorrow."

How does this person work to make others' lives better?

Stephanie has a small budget, she travels to LA on her own seeking out the best clothing deals from vendors to accomodate the children served. As an "Active" member of ALPV you find her serving on committees and helping our other philanthropic endeavors.

Christmas gifts for families in need; finding prom dresses for students that otherwise couldn't attend a dance or prom and so much more. I consider her "an angel."
