Believe the hype.

Very simply, if you are a fan of burgers, you will want to stop in at Slater’s 50/50 restaurant after it opens in Rancho Cucamonga on July 1.

The small, but growing, chain of restaurants rose to fame thanks its signature burger, which bears the restaurant’s name: a patty made with 50 percent ground beef and 50 percent ground bacon.

Decadent? Yes. Delicious? Definitely.

But while your heart might explode at the idea of some of the offerings, and the amount of bacon involved … well, that’s sort of the point. The food is good, and more importantly, real. The restaurants strive to make as much of the offerings in house, so much so that the chain’s executive chef Brad Lyons made his own mayonnaise for the restaurant when it first opened (a practice that ended within the first week, thanks to two-hour waits for customers).
