Nominate the Best Gym/Place to Workout in the San Gabriel Valley

Let us know the best places to work out in and around the region so we can put it to a vote and find out which is the Readers’ Choice 2012 winner.

One of the great things about Southern California is that the fitness-obsessed among us can workout outside almost every day of the year. Some workout spots, however, are better than others. Muscle Beach comes to mind, but there are plenty of great workout spots in the San Gabriel Valley, too.

That said, the amenities of a first-class gym can be hard to pass up no matter how nice the weather.

A great gym will have you coming back again and again; not having to worry about a line for your favorite machine or unfriendly service can make your workout routine that much easier to follow.

So pick a gym or a workout spot you love from anywhere near your home, from Altadena to Glendora, from La Cañada Flintridge to Diamond Bar. This includes Pasadena as well.

We’ll keep accepting nominations through July 9. After that, nominations will be closed, and we’ll start the voting, so make sure to get in your favorites now.

It’s easy: Just nominate your favorite businesses in the comments below!*

*Because this is a contest, you’ll need to create a Patch login to nominate and

vote!

NOMINATIONS CLOSE JULY 9!

Don’t forget to tell your friends on Facebook, Twitter and email! If you own a business, encourage your customers or friends to nominate you!

All you need to do to nominate a business is to add it in the comments below. If you already see the business you want to nominate, make sure to add your comment about why it should be included, because we may not be able to add all businesses to our poll and we want to make sure the top ones make it into the poll.

Thanks for your participation.

For me, nothing beats walking my dog up and down the hills of Altadena. But I do keep a membership at 24-Hour Fitness just for those days when I can't deal with the weather or I feel the urge to swim. The parking at the facility on Lincoln can be nasty at peak times, but only rarely have I had to wait to use equipment, and the price is pretty reasonable--especially compared to those spin places. My membership allows me to go to other 24-Hour locations as well, which has often proved convenient.
I wish that the folks who nominated Foothill Fitness would elaborate.

Focus on Fitness (private residence NY @ Lake) ~ Altadena ~ It's mostly outside so you get to breathe fresh, not recirculated air; your body gets to move functionally so you stay flexible and agile; regain or maintain balance and coordination and, it's structured for each individual.

Another vote to nominate CrossFit Monrovia! The owners want it to be a place where people can go to have fun, be included in a great bunch of people, and to feel great about changing their lives for the better. I love it!
