New Eatery Helps Shape Claremont Gourmet Burgers Landscape

Rounds Gourmet Burgers has begun to serve up fresh made-to-order burgers at their newest Claremont-based restaurant.

A new gourmet burger restaurant recently rolled into Claremont, bringing it with it specialty toppings, out-of-the-ordinary dipping sauces, and fresh-baked buns.

Rounds Premium Burgers opened Dec. 27 at the S. Indian Hill location.

Chabel Ghaby, who founded the restaurant with his brother George, said that the recent opening was a soft one.  A more formal grand opening and ribbon cutting will take place once the eatery gets its license to serve alcoholic beverages, Ghaby said. That approval could happen any day, he said.

The Claremont location is the second one the company opened.  The original was opened in West Hollywood in 2011.  Others are planned soon in Pasadena and Sherman Oaks. Rounds also operates a food truck.

At Rounds, patrons grab a printed piece of paper outlining the steps necessary to build their own burgers.  They can mark the choices between beef, in quarter- and half-pound sizes, chicken, turkey, or veggie. The next step is to choose a sauce, with options such as garlic aioli, jalapeno ranch, pesto mayo, and Tabasco ketchup, to name a few.  Next comes a choice of basic toppings, followed by the option to add cheese.  Premium toppings range from sautéed mushrooms to grilled pineapple to a fried egg.

Customers can get their burgers with a bun or without.

“’Just the Way You Like It!’ That's the motto at Rounds,” the company’s website states. “Your burger, your way, every time. Rounds gives you the tools, and you build your masterpiece, whether you like it plain and simple or loaded with toppings and messy.”
