Steam Engine Prepared to Leave Its Home at Fairplex

Railroad fans are encouraged to pay the old Steam Engine, known as Big Boy, will soon head out to Wyoming for much needed work.

La Verne Police are inviting people to head out to pay Steam Engine 4014, affectionately named “Big Boy,” a visit before it heads out from the Fairplex to Wyoming where it is to be restored.

The train will be available for viewing starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25. Admission is free. Guests may enter through Gate 15 off of Arrow Highway.

About 1 a.m. Sunday Big Boy will be moved onto tracks so it may start its journey to Wyoming.
