The first farmer's market of the season in La Verne has been canceled due to the weather, city officials announced Thursday afternoon.
The event had been scheduled to kick of the season March 7 and continue "all summer long" each Thursday.
This not-so-summery cold and rainy weather forced the city to move the launch of the seasonal event to next Thursday, March 14.
The Old Town La Verne Family Festival and Farmer's Market features things like fresh produce, crafts, children's rides and activities, and is held on "D" and Third streets, just south of Bonita Avenue, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
There's also usually live music at the street fair, and the city calls it "a fantastic time to rediscover and enjoy the special treasure that is Old Town La Verne."
