AQMD: Stay Away From Your Fireplace Today

The unhealthful air quality forecast prompted AQMD officials to call for a no-burn day for residents living in the South Coast Air Basin.

Due to an unhealthful air quality forecast, today has been deemed a no-burn day for residents living in the South Coast Air Basin, the South Coast Air Quality Management District announced today.

Residents living in the basin, which includes all of Orange County and the non-desert areas of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, are prohibited from burning wood or manufactured fire logs in their fireplaces for the 24-hour period beginning at midnight, according to the South Coast Air Quality Management District, the air pollution control agency that issued the no-burn order.

Residents can enter their ZIP codes at www.aqmd.gov to see if they are in an affected area.
