26 Acts of Kindness Campaign Gaining Followers

In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School attack, many are looking for ways to help others to provide a sense of peace.

The fatal shooting of 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary not only devastated the country it left many feeling helpless.

But a new trend, called 26 Acts of Kindness, has emerged thanks in part to NBC News correspondent Ann Curry.

According to the Associated Press, Curry sparked the campaign by asking herself after Friday's massacre in Connecticut: "What can I do?"

The answer, according to the AP, was performing 26 acts of kindness, one for each person killed in the attack. As recent as Thursday morning, Curry posted the suggestion to start the movement on her Twitter account.

Her efforts have launched a Facebook page that, as of Thursday afternoon had well over 37,000 likes and was growing by several dozens by the minute.

Several people have since replied to Curry with descriptions of the different kind acts they and loved ones have participated in.

While the movement can never fully heal the wound created by the loss of the children and staffers at the Connecticut elementary school, arguably, it is helping people regain a sense of peace and empowerment.

We pose the question to our Patch readers: What acts of kindness have you committed? What others do you suggest?”

@Muslim radicals are the problem here. This jihad/war whatever the hell you want to call it, willRead More never end in our lifetime. Ultimately the Muslims will win. Look no further than Europe. Unless there is a full fledged worldwide war, they really can't be stopped. Their numbers are too great. What we are doing in Afghanistan is nothing more than swatting away a bee every time one flies out of the hive. But there are millions still in the hive. Unless we close our borders to people from the Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe, what happened in Boston will continue. It's not racist to not like Muslims just like it wasn't racist to not like the Russians during the Cold War or Germans during WWII.

Thanks to these two scum brothers, I can no longer transport my hearty meals in my trusty pressureRead More cooker via backpack. As an alternative, I tried to fit a crock pot, but it ruined my backpack zipper and made a meatball/marinara mess inside my backpack; even making way into the USB ports of my laptop. Sorry, tupperware won't cut it. It just gets too hot and eventually leaves a huge welt on my back.
