Hope through Housing receives $40,000 grant for Montclair Family Opportunity Center

The Hope through Housing Foundation has received a $40,000 grant from JP Morgan Chase to help operate Hope’s Family Opportunity Center at two affordable housing developments in Montclair.

        The money will be used to provide the resources and support to help families and individuals achieve economic mobility – the foundation upon which Hope’s Family Opportunity Centers are built.

        “We are extremely grateful to JP Morgan Chase for its commitment to this initiative and our broader mission of transforming lives and communities,” said George Searcy, Executive Director of the Rancho Cucamonga-based Hope through Housing Foundation. “We believe, and have shown, that the path to financial stability is through education, goal setting and professional support.”

        The two Montclair properties – San Antonio Vista and Vista del Cielo – are among the first in Hope’s national network to include a Family Opportunity Center, a one-stop system that allows families and individuals to work with financial coaches to set and achieve short-term and long-term economic goals. They are also linked to appropriate service providers to remove any barrier on the path to financial stability.

          Fifty families living in and around the two developments will benefit from the financial-coaching and bundled services program, which will serve as a model for a similar program at the Waterman Gardens redevelopment in San Bernardino.

         Hope through Housing is an affiliate of National Community Renaissance, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit developers of affordable housing. During the past 20 years, Hope through Housing has provided more than 2 million hours of social services for National CORE residents and surrounding neighborhoods. National CORE manages nearly 9,000 housing units across four states and is one of the largest nonprofit developers of affordable housing in the United States.
