Expect the Unexpected at Eureka!Burger

There's more than just your average burger on the menu at this eclectic restaurant.

At Eureka!Burger, expect the unexpected.

Yes, there’s a “regular” burger on the menu, with lettuce, pickle, tomato, and special sauce. But there’s also the Catalina Bison Burger, topped off with homemade bacon infused jalapeno jam, and the LULU Burger, with a patty made of ground lamb and chuck. Eureka!Burger definitely offers plenty of adventurous options.

During a recent lunch with friends, I had an old favorite that I’ve ordered from the Redlands location: the Fig Marmalade Burger, medium rare. The slightly sweet homemade fig marmalade melds well with the tangy melted goat cheese, and the spicy porter mustard on top brings even more flavor. I went with the sweet honey cinnamon potato fries instead of the regular fries for $1.25 more, and I was glad I did; the sweet potato fries were elevated by the simple drizzle of honey on top.

My dining companions ordered two Original Eureka!Burgers, the Turkey Cobb Burger, and a Fig Marmalade Burger, prepared the same way I enjoyed it. The Turkey Cobb was piled with all the fixings that you’d see in a Cobb salad, including bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and blue cheese, with the addition of the spicy porter mustard. It was a bit of a messy eat, but the fresh toppings seemed to add depth to the turkey. The Eureka!Burgers were both altered by the orderers, with one opting for no cheese and no sauce, and the other no sauce with the addition of mustard. Both came out exactly as ordered, which is always appreciated.

While burgers are the main focus, Eureka!Burger also has a wide selection of appetizers, salads and sandwiches, not to mention an extensive beer list. We didn’t try dessert, but I would love to in the future, as items include Sinful Bourbon Ice Cream (whisky vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce, candied pecans, and a half-ounce floater of Buffalo Trace, only available for those over 21) and the homemade Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding A La Mode, garnished with flaky sea salt.

The main dining area packs patrons in, and there are both booths and tables. I prefer eating outside on the patio, especially when the weather is nice. It can get pretty loud inside the restaurant, and it’s much easier to have a conversation outside. Yes, the Metrolink does go roaring past, but that only happened a few times during my rather long lunch.

Eureka!Burger serves local items whenever they can, from the hamburger buns to beers, which is appreciated. All meat is 100% vegetarian fed and hormone and antibiotic free, and for those who want to dine gluten free, several items can be customized to fit dietary restrictions.

This isn’t the place to go if you’re looking for a quiet, intimate meal, but it is definitely where you want to head if you’re looking for a burger with a twist, in a boisterous yet comfortable atmosphere.
